monsoon amp...

hey.. i think i read somewhere that the firebirds have a 500 watt amp and the camaros have a 200 watt amp for the stereo. are these interchangable and would it be worth my time to do it?

No. Both are a huge POS and produce tons of distortion that blow the factory speakers all the time.

Im the purporter of trying to keep the monsoon going, but IMHO dont bother changing the amp.. the gain (if any) would be minimal, plus anyway heard that the newer camaros got the "500 watt" setup anyway.

Dont waste the time, save your $$ and get a new system, or try my recipe for changing out the speakers... look a few pages back you'll find it...

hey rogue leader... did you snip the connectors from your factory speakers and crimp on new terminals to hook up your speakers? cuz i'm thinking about doing the same mod that you did because i want a much less distorted sound... also.. where is our amp located? and does it say what wattage it is somewhere on it to know if i have a 200w or a 500w? thanks for all your help dude.

Yes I clipped em right off the speakers and re used em so I wouldnt have to cut teh factory wiring harnesses. the amp is located behind the spare tire up high in the fender towards the wheel. AFAIK there is no wattage desegnation on it. If your camaro is a 2000 or newer you have a 500w amp
