Looking for a good "rock" sub
My intent is to add a 10in sub to the factory system. What is a good sub for mostly "rock" music and which amp would you put with it?
Also, could you give a brief reason what makes it good for "rock" and why you choose it.
Thanks for the opinions

It's not really the sub that will matter the most. It's the install and the type of box you have. For mostly rock, I would go with a sealed enclosure. Do you have t-tops? Do you plan on keeping what little trunk space we have? I ask because MTX (and several other companies) makes a sealed box that fits right into the left hatch area. It utilizes room that normally would not be used. For just one 10".... I would go with that. Post back with your option and I will help you some more.
I'm using a JL Audio Vantage Stealthbox with an Alpine Type-S subwoofer. I was using a JL Audio 10W3 but the Alpine blows away the JL. The JL is an excellent sub but the Alpine seems to be a MUCH better match for the .6 cubic feet of the Vantage enclosure.

As for an amp...Look into a class D subwoofer amp. I'm using an MTX Thunder 6500D. The amp pumps out 600W into the Alpine's 2ohm load. I only listen to ROCK (no cRAP, hip-hop, or any of that other BS) and it sounds GREAT!!!
