Looking to get a CD Changer...

I have a '95 Trans Am with in-dash CD. This christmas I'm looking to get a cd changer, preferably 10 or 12 disc RF Modulated (I don't want to lose my stock head unit). Anyone have any recommendations and what prices they come at (assuming I'm buying the equipment new)....

Thanks...

If you can avoid using an RF modulator do so. Try getting a Digital Protocol Adapter from PIE. The GM10/PC-KNW will allow you to use a Kenwood changer with your stock stereo system without using a modulator. It plugs right into your factory wiring harness and into the changer.

So the factory head unit will have an interface cable on the back of it to just plug in? It's that simple? Just mount it and plug that one wire into the head unit and it works?

The GM9 plugs into the back of the factory HU. You want the GM10 which plugs into the existing factroy harness in the back of the car.

And yes, it's that simple. I had one in my car before I upgraded everything to after-market equipment.

Also, where would I buy this interface wire? It doesn't appear they sell it on their site. How much does it go for?

The harness is in the back of the car on the driver's side. It is part of the harness that goes to the hatch area speaker on that side. It should be a flat connector wrapped in foam and tucked under the carpet or under the edge of the fender.

I think Crutchfield sells them. Not sure of the cost though. I got mine from a guy that was selling them on eBay for $35. Try writing to PIE and asking them for a dealer near you.
