Lock/Unlock wire colors?
Lock/Unlock wire colors?
I'm trying to get a keyless entry system installed on my 1993 Z28, but I can't find the wires inside the kick panel. Obviously I can find them inside the switch panel on each door, but finding them where they come out of the door inside either kick panel has so far been impossible. Anyone ever installed a keyless entry in a 1993 camaro? If so, where are these wires and what colors exactly? Thanks in advance.

Re: Lock/Unlock wire colors?
If your car is a factory non-keyless car then you will use light blue for lock and dark blue for unlock. These wires can be found in either door harness but the passenger switch is the master switch. If it is a factory keyless car then lock is red/black and unlock is orange/black. These will be behind the passenger kick panel at the keyless entry module. Either way both lock and unlock need to be wired up as a 5-wire setup.
Re: Lock/Unlock wire colors?
I do own a factory non-keyless system, and from what you wrote it looks like I'm going to have to actually run wire to the door switch, as it won't be found in the kick panel? As stupid as this may sound, I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you say I have to wire it as a 5 wire switch. I was under the impression that I would use the keyless entry system lock/unlock wires provided and splice them directly to the dk blue/lt blue wires inside the door panel switch. Thanks man.

Re: Lock/Unlock wire colors?
Unfortunately the locks are not a straight positive or negative trigger like you hoped. Once you locate the lock/unlock wires you will need to cut them. You will then have a car side and a motor side for each wire. Then wire up a relay for each one like so:
85 -- negative lock output from aftermarket keyless
86 -- +12 volts constant
30 -- motor side of cut wire
87a -- car side of cut wire
87 -- +12 volts constant
You will wire the relay for unlock the same way as above just put the word unlock in place of lock.
