Lanzar VIBE 1200D too much for Kicker S12L7?
Lanzar VIBE 1200D too much for Kicker S12L7?
I was looking at the Lanzar Vibe 1200D at thezeb.com. The reviews that I've seen looked pretty good. Its rated for 1200 Watts RMS at thezeb.com, but 1200Watts MAX at lanzar.com.
Either way, do you think this amp is too much for one Kicker S12L7 square? The sub will be running at 1 ohm.
Also, Does anyone have any experience with this amp?
Thanks!

Depends on the box.... but it should be alright, but I doubt very much that a Lanzar amp is going to put that much power out.. atleast clean power.
The S12L7's I'm feeding about 800WRMS each in a 1.5cf sealed boxes and they sound nice and could probably take even more.

First you need to find out if that spec is RMS or Max. If it's max, then I wouldn't even bother since it won't be enough. I'm running 900 watts to a pair of 10" L7s and they could use more. But even 1200 watts rms will be fine for two S12L7s. Shoot, they're rated at 750 watts rms each and can probably handle closer to 900 or 1000 rms. JMO.
By most accounts that i have seen that amp puts out 800-1000 watts, should be plenty enough for that sub...
The Opti line puts out its rated power, so if you can find the big class D in the opti line you might be better off.
I have no first hand experience with Lanzar, just going by what i heard.

And power handling of a sub is greatly dependent on the enclosure. What kind of box will it be in?
