Re: jl 500/5

Instead of the 10W6v2, a better match would be the 8W7. I really liked the SQ of my pair, and it hit damn hard.

The 500/5 isn't the cheapest five channel amp, but I really do like them. What you could possibly do is go XR's in the front and bi-amp them, if you don't mind losing rear fill.

Re: jl 500/5

What's wrong with it being SVC? The 500/5 has RIPS, so it puts out 250w RMS between 1.5-4 ohms. So you'd either be really underpowering the 10W6v2, or you'd be putting just the right amount of power to the 8W7.

You do know that there's no real advantage between DVC and SVC, right?

Re: jl 500/5

Depends on what you want. I know that one 8 would pound like hell even in a small stealthbox, but obviously the 10 would probobly play a little louder.

Both would be good solutions. Find out what makes more sense for your install, and financially. I would bet that the 500/1 + 300/4 would end up being more expensive once you consider all the extra install pieces you need than just the 500/5. And if you go 500/5 with the 8W7, it would be a good match.
