I've lost sound to my speakers

Okay, so I had a pioneer head unit installed a few years ago, after a little rigging, everything was fine. Last year, I installed an amp and sub in the trunk, still no problem. Last week, while driving, the sound just cut out from the stock speakers. The car came with the 5 speaker system, but the stock sub was disconnected during the rigging. I get sound from the aftermarket sub just fine, but the front and rear speakers (which were working fine) don't make any noise at all.
All of the speakers got new wires directly to the head unit to avoid all of that GM silliness. I tried another head unit, but the same thing happened, the sub works fine, but no sound to the speakers.
I'm kind of in the dark on why it would work fine for a year with no modifications, and then all of a sudden, all four speakers just go silent. Any ideas?

another GA boy I see With that situation, the only thing that comes to mind is that one of your speakers might be grounding out. Try this. Try hooking up a single speaker to the HU w/o the being connected to the stock speaker. If it works, then one of your speakers might be grounding out.

What he said. After that, if the one speaker works, start disconnecting them one at a time, if the radio turns on, youre good, if its still silent, hook it back up. If you un hook one and it comes, on, well youve narrowed it down to which speaker is causing the problems.
