I was looking at the power rating of the amp, and the power handling of the speakers. It looks like you will have ~300 watts per speaker if you wire it up at 2 ohms. That is half of the speakers power handling (they peak at 600 watts). It should be enough, but I would personally want a little more kick to the speakers.

I would call up your nearest audio store that carries kicker and ask them how the combo would work. Maybe they have done an install with that same setup.

I feed each of mine 450 watts RMS and they love it. Actually I think they'd be fine with quite a lot more than that.

I'm feeding 2 12s ~800Watts RMS, in a 1.5cf enclosure *Opps gotta change the sig and give SubThump some credit* in a DeepWell Subthump Box. At that power level let's just say that I'm still not at X-Max.... I'm actually thinking of stepping up to ~1000WRMS per speaker.

I would contact Kicker or look around for an amp that will support either 1200WRMS x 1 @ 1 ohm, or 600WRMS x 2 @ 2 Ohms which neither should be hard to find. I try to match the RMS ratings, Speakers Vs Amps, although that's a rough way to do it.

Yes one 12 will slam. Especially if you port it. Like (mike)97FormulaWS-6 said about excursion, my 10s barely move at all with 450 watts, so I know they can handle more power.

Well my 2 12s in the sealed boxes hit pretty hard but I've heard a LOT louder from a ported box. The Kickers take a TON of power to pound in a small sealed box.

But... your subs are they 2 ohms each VC or 4 ohms each VC?? that will make a difference. If they're 4 ohm each VC then you should be good with 1 10. If they're 2 ohm each VC them you may want to look for another amp, I don't know if that 600.1 is 1 ohm stabe, and you most likely don't want to run that at 4 ohms.

Personally i think if you want a loud sound quality sub you should look at something besides a L7. They don't sound that great in a small sealed box and only slightly better in a medium sealed box. Since you only have 600 (or a little more) watts to a single sub, you have a TON of options, some more expensive and some cheaper and ALL should get nearly as loud as a 12L7 (some louder), but sound WORLDS better.

Option 1
Adire Shiva. Efficiency is the name of the game here, it is only going to get 300 watts from that amp, but it will sound fantastic, and due to its high efficiency it should get louder than you will need. Maybe not as loud as an L7 sealed with twice the power, but since it is a lot more efficient it won't be far behind. $125 from an authorized dealer with 3 year warranty.... one of the best bang for the buck subs available.

Option 2
Alpine Type R 12. this is a true small box sub. to achieve a .707 qtc this sub needs only 1 cubic foot compared to the 20 cubic feet that the L7 needs. (qtc is an indicator of relative sound quality) $150 each... take your pick they also go in small ported boxes and sound quite good in a sound quality ported box... you can probably get better sound quality out of a 2 cubic foot ported Type R than a 2 cubic foot sealed L7, and get louder.

Option 3
Elemental Designs E12k
sound great sealed, and good ported, but all hell breaks loose when you port them.
They have been compared to the Eclipse aluminum when sealed. Relativly efficient, tiny box, and great sound quality sealed. Ported they already hold 2 meca world records despite being released less than 2 months ago. They are just beasts when ported and they still maintain respectable sound quality, but they probably will only like the approximatly 700 watts sealed, and maybe not ported. $135 each, 3 year wattanty.

Option 4
ID Max
huge excursion, efficient, extreme sound quality!!! This is a phenominal sub, it is one of the better subs you can buy period. $350 online price, well worth the money.

There are a LOT of options, it really isn't that hard to beat the sound quality of the L7, and there are a lot of capable subs to compete in SPL.... IMO the L7 isn't that great of a daily driver sub, sure it is decent for SPL, but it is just not an easy sub to make sound decent.

Honestly you should go to some audio forums and get some opinions on the L7's. I will list a few forums to do some searches on....

soundillusions.net (my favorite)
elitecaraudio.com
carsound.com
pacific-audio.com
caraudioforum.com

You will hear a LOT of people telling you exactly what i am telling you..

About the shiva...
well it is a plain black coned sub, no nonsense, no frills, just pure sound. It is a great sounding sub that hits lower than most anything. It is also very efficient, but it takes a larger box than some "small box subs, but it is optimized for a similar sized box to the JL w3 series and the infinity perfects.
The Shiva is very comparable to the 12w3 and 12w6, but at a lower price. All are very competent subs, and match up closely performance wise, but the 12w3 and 12w just can't match up to the shivas price.
