Hooking up amp, have question

I'm just wondering where I should connect the power cable to?? Directly to the positive terminal on the battery has always worked for me before, but what about the distribution block behind the battery, or directly to the alternator which I've also heard of being done??? The amp is an Alpine MRV-100M rated at 200 RMS bridged mono @ 14.4 volts.

A direct connection to the battery is best.

Whoever said you could connect it to the alternaror doesn't know what they're talking about. The alternator produces alternate current (AC) voltage.

cool thanks. I just hooked it up to the alternator, but I'm getting no power. Good ground, all hookups done, but no power?

Usually on a radio with a blue and a blue/white turn on leads, the solid blue only gets hot with the am/fm function on the radio.

solid blue is for power ant, and blue/white is remote turn on wire.
