good door component set?

i dont need killer compeition level stuff that costs a ton or takes modifications to fit, i need something thats a lot better then stock and will keep me happy. i think i have an alpine set in there now, over the past few months its been sounding ****ty and i dont know why there is like feedback/crackling sometimes but all the connections are tight and im far from an audio expert. i'd perfer to have clarity/quality as opposed to earsplitting volume as well. i think in the rears i have boston acustiks something or other, the one is rally something?? its oval. it was soo long ago i bought all this stuff i cant remember, but im happy with the rears they were quality stuff i knew the alipines were the weakest part of my system they were the cheapest thing i got.

does it matter what kind of music i play? not sure if some setups are better for different highs/lows and such

I couldnt imagine any Alpine components being low quality. If you like the boston rears so much, why not get Boston components of the same series.

Aside from Boston Acoustics, which uses a different tweeter material, I will never buy another set of speakers that do not have silk dome or some other type of soft dome tweeter. I have found that these sound smoother than anything else, for crisp, clear sound.

Polk, Alpine, and Infinity all have great 6 1/2's for around 100/pair. Also, a decent 4-way amp will add loudness and increase the sound quality of the music. One last thing to look into are those speaker kits that insulate the space behind the door panel.

I bought my 6.5" Boston Acoustics component set for $350, shipped. They were on sale, one of the best purchases i've ever made. Alpine and Kenwood are pretty good, but if i had to choose between the two i'd take alpine. You should be able to find something affordable from them.

Good luck.

so alipines are pretty good? i dk what model mine are, pretty sure they are alpines, but the boston's in the back sound better whether loud or soft for some reason. i have a 4 channel amp, i think it may be going to the fronts and rears. the past 2 months ive actually adjusted the head unit so only the back 4 speakers are playing cuz the alipnes were pissing me off so much. i think its only the front left, i posted about it a while ago people suggested grounding it but i didnt know how or where.

There ar tons of good component sets. I would look into a CDT set. Also, decide what kind of tweeter you want. A silk dome tweeter will produce much less harsh highs than an aluminum or titanium one will.

Any tweeter will be loud...I doubt you can stand the harshness of most of them at high volume though. High volume is where cheap tweeters show their limits.

Ceramic tweeters are usually pretty smooth too, Infinity is the only company i know of that uses them though.

How much are you asking for them? Hopefully I should have enough money after Christmas. Send me an email if Ronin doesn't take them.

Infinity. They sound AWESOME for being as inexpensive as they are.

Get custom kick panels if you can. Sound even better!

If you go with Infinity, stay away from the Reference series, I see them blown up or not working in as-is auctions on ebay all the time. I haven't seen one Infinity Kappa or Perfect item blown though, for whatever thats worth.
