full guage sweep on startup

full guage sweep on startup

has anyone ever seen a camaro/trans am that has a full guage sweep on startup...like the WRX sti has. can this be done? how?

Don't know if it can be done, but I remember seeing some discussion about the gauges doing that due to an electrical problem which has affected quite many 98+ cars...

On the other hand, my Expedition did that and heard that it was a sign of a weak battery. After replacing the battery, no sweep.

It could be done, but would take some effort to accomplish; it's not a simple thing to do to be honest.

The only way I can think of to do it right would be using some form of microcontroller or reflashing the micro that's inside the gauge cluster itself.

ya, i was just hoping it could be accomplished with a handheld programmer...oh well...thanks anyway
