Electrical problems?

Electrical Problems?
Just wondering if anyone could give me a few tips on an electrical problem I seem to be having. While I am driving, my radio display goes black, the controls are inoperative, but the music still plays. Eventually, the display will flicker back on, and the music will stop and then come back on. The radio does feel hot when this happens. If a CD happens to be playing and the display goes black, the cd continues to play while all controls stop. When the display comes back on, the CD goes back to the place in the song it was at before the display went out. I am wondering if anyone else has had these problems, or if anyone knows what this might be, or has any ideas on what I could do to diagnose this problem.
Thanks!!!!
Mike

P.S. This is the Bose Radio from a '94 Z-28 with the in dash CD player, no CD changer.

Sounds like one of the many weird things that can happen to a Bose unit when it starts to go south.

They go bad all the time. In your case it sounds like an internal electrical problem that can’t be fixed without having it serviced (probably not worth doing).

Time for an aftermarket head unit.
