Is it possible or do I have to get a new head unit? I have the factory Monsoon headunit with CD player and equalizer. My Crown Vic came with just an AM/FM radio (was a cop car before) and so all I did was buy a used radio with tape player and a tape/MP3 player adapter ($40 total). But I would rather just be able to connect my MP3 player directly to the unit so I was wondering what would be my best choice. I have been looking at some Alpine headunits at Best Buy but don't know if they would sound better than the factory or look nice. Though which type of headunit could I get with a $200 budget which would work good with the factory system? I believe my T/A has like eight speakers in there. Or 6 speakers and 2 tweeters. Not sure. Would this one work:

And this is the factory unit:

Look online, there are places which will modify factory radios like that to give you an MP3/Headphone input jack. Or if you feel comfortable with a drill and soldering iron there are instructions online.

The monsoon system is a PITA to replace any part of without gutting and replacing the whole thing.
