CD Changer Install

I want to install a CD changer in my '02 Z28, and I was wondering whether or not the cameros are prewired for one.

I am wondering this, since a CD changer was an option on these cars, however it wasn't on mine. I am hoping the wiring for it is easily accessible through some plug. I do not want to go with the RF modulation.

Thanks

it should, the wiring should be behind the driver side rear panel in the trunk. If your head unit doesn't have the changer controls though, you will need to get one with them.

Yes, ALL '98-up Camaro's are prewired. If you're '02 has the Monsoon system, then the HU will control the stock changer as well.

The cheapest place for a new stock changer is www.radiosandmore.com

Thanks for the link. Didn't realize it was that expensive, but at least its cheaper then getting it from the dealer.

I was hoping to put in a cd/mp3 player by buying a unit that can be hardwired and attached to the head unit by some "special" harness for an easy install. Has anyone seen such a unit?

I had seen a nice Alpine changer at circuit city and was told if I wanted it, it only works on an Alpine HU. Oh well.
