new speakers not as loud as stock

I have the monsoon system in my car and I installed 2 new 6.5" pioneers into the doors and they are not as loud as the stock speakers. How come?

Monsoon speakers are rated at 2 ohms. Most aftermarket are going to be 4 ohms thus half the power.

If i buy a new head unit and run it through the stock wiring with the stock amp, will my system run at 4 ohms?

I dont have a lot of money to spend because I'm about to go on vacation for a whole month in June. Is there any other way to get my system to run at 4 ohms? Can I just bypass the monsoon amp by buying a new HU and running straight wires from the HU to the new pioneer door speakers?

you wouldnt want to do that because your head unit doesnt put out that much wattage.....Your best bet is to buy a multi channel amp and hook them up to that

Well....most head units only put out 20-25 watts RMS so im guessing no.....if you want them to sound good AND loud. What pioneers did you buy? I am guessing they need 50-100 watts RMS and your head unit really isnt enough.

You can get away with running them off the HU.... it won't be as loud or as clean as with an external amplifier, but it does work, and many people do it.

All I want is for the new pioneer speakers to sound at least as good as the stock speakers or even better. I'm not really looking for a loud and powerful system.

You should be just fine as long as you have a good HU... I've done it plenty of times before for people whating just an everyday stereo that sounds good...

If you were after more, then I'd suggest the 4ch amp, or better, but for most people, it's not necessary...

So basically what you are saying is that you want to run wires directly from the door speakers to your HU, and leave the other four speakers in the car stock? I don't think that will sound right.

you can get a semi good amp for the same price you are going to spend on a semi good HU

I just installed some 8.94 speakers from a local Mills Fleet Farm they are factory replacement speakers they have some stupid carbon fiber sticers over the cone and they have a chrome plastic center I was very skeptical but I though wth. I put them in and they sound great! I couldn't believe it and they sound better as they get broken in. I compared them to some higher end pioneer speakers and some sony's that I had laying around and they sounded just as good if not better than the good stuff. So they are in my car now. These speakers were installed in a 94 trans am with the 10 speaker system.

The problem is the fact that for one the factory speakers are 2 ohm and they are also bi-amplified, meaning the speakers have a set of wires for the midbass and a set for the tweeter. If he switches radios and runs the wires directly to each new speaker it will fix the problem. If I was his sales person I would have sold him a radio instead of the speakers. The new radio would have driven the factory amp harder thus increasing the volume and having a better range of sound.
