Can subs and door speakers be hooked up to this amp?
I obviously don't know a whole lot about speakers. I just finished hooking up to 12"s into my brother's maxima. His amp is a 600w Kenwood KAC-728S. He got it used, so I don't know the specs on it. On one side of the amp, there are four empty slots. Above these it says Speaker level input (+ and -). Is this a spot that door speakers can go? If so, is there a site that shows how to wire them up. Thanks for any help
You can basically hook up anything you want to an amp. When you say there are 4 empty slots, what do you mean? The RCA or just the screws that hold down the wire? If you are just talking about the screws for the normal speaker wire then you would run a wire straight back from your door speakers to the amp. The postive wire from your door speaker will go to one of the positive screws on the amp. The screws are also usually split up between front and rear, so the door speakers would go to the front section of the amp(to assure the right frequencies go to the speakers), you could do it the other way, bt it would sound kinda weird....its not really that difficult....you would also have to run a set of RCA jacks from the cd player/mp3 player or whatever you have back to the amp and put them in the RCA spots...same as the speaker wiring...there is a front and rear input and these are color coded red and white...so its hard to screw up
Any other questios just post and I can try and help out a little better

Yea, exactly what Shawnster said....you basically need 1 channel per speaker that you want to hook up. So if you want to run all 4 speakers to an amp then you need at least a 4 channel amp. Like in my case I have a 5 channel amp....my 4 car speakers and one sub all hooked up to the same amp.
Hope that this helps

I might be completly off on this one... but i think he is talking about the high level inputs kenwood has. These are used like a Rear speaker to RCA converter. It converts ur rear speaker cable single into the amp, Without RCA wires. If your trying to power speakers off these..cant do it , its inputing signle. U would need speaker level output to power the other 4 speakers. Which it sounds like u powering the sub with.
best of luck
