Can one 15 produce as much bass as say two 15's?

Can one 15 produce as much bass as say two 15's?
I want to run either two MTX 15 inch Thunder 8000's or one MTX Thunder 9500. I willl one MTX 81000D or one MTX 1501D (same power output) and boths setups would have the same power output. At first I wanted to go with two 8000's but I have heard from people that I have heard the 9500 and they claim it will put out more SPL. Is it possible for the 9500 to do this even though it only has half the cone area of the two 8000 Series 15's?

theoretically yes.... but there are a LOT of variables that factor in...
Obviously excursion of the sub itself.... and what types of boxes are they in... is the single in a ported and the duals in a sealed...
If everything is equal and you're just adding another speaker.. the duals will be louder..

I also believe that if the single sub has a 3db higher sensitivity to 1w and 1m, then it's going to seem as loud as two subs. Most of the time, adding another sub gains 3db, so it's possible.
Of course, then you get into increasing power for the 2nd sub, and each time you double the power, you gain 3 db.
I know my wife's single 15" sub is louder than many dual 12" setups.

As was stated by LS1RulZ earlier, the surface area of the 2 15's is far greater than that of 1. The 2 15's WILL be louder unless for whatever reason you decided to go ported on the single and sealed on the other, which may not even cause the single to be as loud, in fact I seriously doubt it. If you have enough power to run 2 8000's, get them, if you can't push them to their potential, don't. Stick with one if that is all the power your gunna have.

If you put the 9500 in a ported box and the 8000s are in a sealed box it should be very close, I tend to think the 9500 will be louder. Personally I would get the 9500, in a ported box. The 9500 has 25mm of Xmax while the 8000s have 12mm.

problem is is first off you lose sound quality with SPL, however im just posting on here to show you mine, 2 MTX 8000 (15s) running on a 81000D.

I personally would like to see a set of 15's in a camaro, I think that could be very kord. I have seen some comments that make sense here, but not all of them do. You won't be displeased with either of the choices.

I saw 1 10" do more spl than another car running 2 12s. But.....he had very high dollar sub and even more expensive amp. I bet with enough power and the right box, you could make that 15 of yours get as loud as some other guys running 2 of em. (although I have never seen that in a camaro......if you get that done and it looks good, I'd like to see some pics of it)
