Friend wants to buy my old bose deck and use non bose speakers. Is it possible?

why bother at that point.. the nice part of the bose systems is the powered speakers, i bet it will sound like a turd without them.

You can use the Bose deck but you have to pull the amplifier module off of a non Bose deck for the speakers to work. Bose head units basically have a preamp output to run the amps at the speakers. They do not have enough power to drive the speakers on their own.
