Question Boston ProSeries 6.5 components in front doors?

I used to run these boston proseries components in kick panels in my tahoe, now I want to run them in the camaro. Without going to kick panels again, i'd like to use the spots for the speakers that came from the factory. The proseries are pretty deep, and I was wondering if there was enough room back there to mount the speaker in there. Does anyone know how much room is back behind the speakers to play with? thanks-

if you know the depth of them you can go onto crutchfield .com, and they have an installation chart......depth of speakers, size eyc.

I have Boston 6.5 ProSeries in my TA. There is plenty of room for them.

I made custom baffles for them out of 1/4th inch particleboard. I think I used 4 layers of particleboard total. Two for the plate that holds them ot the door and two 1/4th inch thick spacer rings. I think LS1rulz is selling them if you don’t want to make them.

They are easy to make, it just takes little while to cut it to the odd shape of the door. I’ll take some picks when I do my window motors.

Here is something I posted in another thread about it:
-Just cut the particleboard to the weird shape of the factory plate (cut it a little oversized then trim it).
-Make sure it sits flush with the door (like the factory one fits).
-It is a little tricky to drill the holes for the screws and have them match up, but all you need is a little patience.
-Then cut a hole in it to fit the speaker and add the necessary spacers (rings of ¼” particle board work). Make sure there is enough clearance in front such that the cone doesn’t hit the door, and make sure the window clears the back of the speaker.
-Use the factory screws and screw holes because they are reinforced the metal (fiber glass is hard to screw into). You can also buy metal clips (if the speakers don’t come with them) that can be used to reinforce any extra screw holes you make.
-The plates on both sides are mirror images of each other. So once you make the plate for one door, all you have to do is trace it and flip it over for the other side.
-Also, get a set of Foam or Plastic speaker baffles, to protect the back of the speaker form getting dripped on.

The 6 ½” ones will work, and you can buy them at your local car audio place. You only need one. Cut it in half and use one half on each side. Position them so they protect the top of the speaker, but the bottom is left open.

Good luck
