bose system+aftermarketHU = bad?

i talk to the guy at a local stereo shop, and he said dont change it. he said bose developed this system to run the right sounds the best way the speakers could. he said they programed this into a chip so the crap speakers would work the best they could. with the help of the amps. he said the chip was in the HU and if i changed it it would sound like crap even if i did the conversion correctly with the piece u can buy.

so i told this to someone that was thinkin about doin this on here. and some A-hole that will remain nameless starts yellin and callin me an idiot and says dont post if u dont know what ur talkin about. and i'm not going to believe one no name on here over a guy who gets paid to know this stuff. he wouldnt of lied to me. because why would he? if he was trying to make money he woulda told me theres no difference to try to sell me a HU.

what do u guys think? does anyone have proff what is right and what isnt? or can anyone give me their opinions if it sounded any better or worse after they did this. because i wanna leave the bose speakers in there if i switch.

I switched out the HU in my car and I am happy that I did. I put an Alpine 7875 deck in and now I have a lot more control over the bass and treble and over all sound with the BBE. The stereo was definitely louder when I put the aftermarket HU in. I don't notice that the sound is worse.

Monsoons are set up different than the BOSE system because the Headunit powers the front speakers, whereas the BOSE is a dead head and all speakers are ran of of micro amps or the main amp in the rear enclosure.

The BOSE Headunit sends a low non amplified signal out, if you match that you will be ok adding a aftermarket unit.

As for Monsoon systems it is a pain, the system blends front and rear signals to the woofers in the sail panels.

maybe more like $50-$60, I paid $54.50 for mine.
But it definitely was worth it because I didn't have to rip out all of my stuff and buy new speakers and all that s**t and used the extra money for a KICK-A$$ Kenwood CD Player!! (excelon 959)
sounds better than E V E R ! ! ! ! !

the bose system is good if you can keep it intact. use the adapter they mentioned. at the best buy here we let it go for like 29.99 so check if there is one near you. in my opinion i really liked my bose but it had only a tape player. so i put a cd player with it and it was still sounding pretty good. then i messed up and had to switch out my whole system. new speakers and everything. it sounded alright, but that is what i get for just getting standard stuff. but if you can get the adaper any hu will work with it and not have to worry about the chips?? good luck

There are three things you can do you can bypass the factory amps (make sure you wire the speakers in series cause they are all 2 ohms, and the sub is 1 ohm i believe), use some sort of integrator or there is a way to wire the speakers with a regular gm harness and have them balance and fade, i think you have to float the negative speaker wires but im not positive it has been awhile.
