bose question

I have the 3 speaker bose system and I want to get new speakers to replace the 2 in the front doors that are blown. I also have the stock headunit which I will not replace. Do I need to replace the subwoofer as well? it is still working good. Thanks

speakers should be a direct replacement. i've replaced the bose sub for people in the past with those audiopipe 6.5 sub jobs with better than factory results.

however, bypassing the bose and adding a 5 channel amp with a 10' will yield win over bose.

Bose amps the speakers separately, and they are 1 Ohm speakers..... So I'd be leery of using standard speakers and getting good sound

As noted I know folks do it, but not really right, and they probably don't listen to music all that closely

I'd really recommend either replacing the head unit and running new wires or going with external amps and a re-wire But that's just me

Oh yeah and the Sub is actually just a 3rd / 5th speaker with a filter to cut out the highs NOTHING SPECIAL about it

That is what I did with my 94 Camaro I had back then. Had it all re wired. It was a much better sound by getting rid of that Bose stuff. I went with Pioneer Premier head unit & Rockford Fosgate speaker/tweeter in front & kenwood speakers in the back. And I had a tube in the trunk on it's own amp. Boomb boomb!!
