Lightbulb Best third gen dash speaker

Anyone have experience with custom dash speakers? The stock 4x6" dash speaker sucks!

You're pretty much stuck with using 4x6 speakers in the dash of a 3rd gen. Under the left speaker there is duct work that is molded to fit around the magnet of the speaker. I wanted to use a set of plate speakers but couldn't since the mid speaker was offset. The only way I would have been able to use it is if I would have taken a heat gun to it and tried to reshape the plastic underneath. Your only option for bigger speakers is to mount them in the door or use a set of kick panel mounted speakers.

i used to run infinity reference plates and they sounded pretty damn good....in fact i still have them in the basement . a round speaker always sounds better then an oval one and the plates give you a smaller round speaker and a seperate tweeter. i'm an infinity fanboy but whatever brand you decide to get the style should be a plate.

4x6 plates suck in general, but if I HAD to go with them I'd probably go Infinity too.

I used to have Infinity reference 4x6's in my old 3rd gen and it sounded pretty good.
