Best third gen dash speaker
You're pretty much stuck with using 4x6 speakers in the dash of a 3rd gen. Under the left speaker there is duct work that is molded to fit around the magnet of the speaker. I wanted to use a set of plate speakers but couldn't since the mid speaker was offset. The only way I would have been able to use it is if I would have taken a heat gun to it and tried to reshape the plastic underneath. Your only option for bigger speakers is to mount them in the door or use a set of kick panel mounted speakers.
i used to run infinity reference plates and they sounded pretty damn good....in fact i still have them in the basement
. a round speaker always sounds better then an oval one and the plates give you a smaller round speaker and a seperate tweeter. i'm an infinity fanboy but whatever brand you decide to get the style should be a plate.
