Question The Best Subs!?!?!?!?

Ok, I'm at my breaking point here... I'm almost 16... I've been researching online to find what sort of audio setup I want to put in my Camaro since I was 14. I have spent many many many hours reading and listening and I can't make a decision because every time I hear a sub I like, I always hear bad things about them. I wanted to get some Kicker CompVR's a while back but I decided against that. A few months ago I thought I found the sub I wanted... a JLW6v2, but then my dad talked to one of his friends in the car audio business and he said they are a very good sub for the first 6 months, but then they start lacking in SQ. He recommended some brand called Matts or Maats or something like that but I'm not sure, since I have never heard of them.

I want to hear some opinions on what subs to get. I'm a kid, and I want the best SQ subs I can get, I listen to a lot of rap and rock and I would rather have subs that sound good than subs that make your ears bleed (although I would prefer both, SQ is top priority). I don't care how much room I take up and I don't care how much it costs (workin non-stop at Giant is worth it to have the best ride in town).

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP ME!

I will take into consideration ALL of your reccomendations!

For absolute top notch sound quality there are plenty of choices ranging from big boxes to tiny, high price tags to moderate.

The best sounding subs i have heard personally are the Adire Brahma series, accurate, low bass monsters... fantastic sounding sub!!! $430 for the 15 and $370 for the 12. The 12 goes great in a .7-1.2 cube sealed box or a 1.8 - 2.2 cube ported.

Next is the Image Dynamics ID MAX, it only comes in a 12" for now, but it is just a fantastic sounding sub.... it doesn't hit low like the brahma, but it is just about as accurate and a good amount more efficient. it is about the same price as the Brahma 12, but it goes in a good bit larger box. 1.3 -1.8 cubes sealed is about perfect, and a little over 2 cubes ported.

Very close behind the ID MAX is the Stereo Integrity Magnum D2. It is fantasticly accurate, and efficient, but it does give up a little more low end than the Max, but goes in a similar sized box as the max and IMO sounds strikingly similar to the max, all at an extremely low price for such a fantastic sub. $250+ shipping from the stereointegrity.com site. it really is a fantastic sub, and at the price it qualifies as a bargain!!!

after those three i have to say my next favorite sub is the IDSPL (special order from ID $450), and the Eclipse Aluminum (about $300), both are great subs in their own right, the IDSPL extremely dry and accurate in the tinyest boxes, and the Eclipse Aluminum is warm deep and smooth just an all round great sub.

next is a plethora of cheaper and still very nice subs, but just not up to the standards set by the previouly mentioned ones.

The Alpine Type R, Image Dynamics IDQ, Adire Shiva, Elemental Designs K series, Boston Acoustics Pro series, JL Audio W3 & W6 series, all have their strengths and weaknesses and all are around the same price online (The shiva and Elemental K series are authorized with warranty the rest are not) and all are roughly the same quality (again with their own strengths and weaknesses). all can be had online between $120 and $170 each and all are great, the Shiva is a low end monster that is extremely accurate, the BA Pro is extremely accurate, the elemental K series and the Alpine Type R are both small box and accurate, the W6 is pretty smooth and warm, the W3 is a little more efficient and accurate... the Image Dynamics IDQ is also meant for tiny boxes and is extremely accurate.

For the best POSSIBLE SQ.... JL W7. With the Brahma in a close second. But the W7 cost nearly twice as much as the Brahma. Not worth it to me. The Rep your dad talked to about the W6v2 is full of it. It's a great sub. Also, look into Focal's line of subs.

Have you heard both? I am wondering because i have not heard the W7, but it does have considerably higher inductance than the Brahma menaing less transient response (can't argue with Physics). Just wondering if you have or have not heard this difference between the two. I would have mentioned the W7, but i make it a rule to never recommend subs that i have not heard. What was the biggest difference between the two? I had read on other forums that they sound very very similar to one another, with the only difference being that the W7 seems to lose some of the tightness in the upper end.

I have a JL Stealthbox with a JL sub-it sounds amazing. If you have t-tops, it's one of the few options you have to keep it out of the way.

Have any of you guys heard the 10" Audiomobile MASS in a Stealthbox?? This is my choice of sub after many hours of online research It seems to model up rather well and Audiomobile claims, with the added transfer function of the car, it will play down to 20hz..flat

Yes, I have heard them both. They were both in sealed boxes. Not the same size or with the same power. So maybe that is making the difference. I say again, the Brahma comes in a CLOSE second IMO, but for the price I would easily take second place! And I do not agree that the W7 loses tightness in the upper end. Maybe they will fair different against each other in a ported box? And after all the arguments with Matt vs. Dan, I will never buy an Audiomobile product...... I guess maybe that's not a good reason, but that's just me.....

After Matt personally called my integrity into question i will not recommend or encourage anyone to buy an audiomobile product. The company is in the process of being sold anyways, so buying Audiomobile comes with the risk of no customer support down the line should you need it.

You know, I even had a hard time believing that someone that high up in a company would argue and lie like that. And right out in the open for EVERYONE to see! He was doing FAR more harm then he must have thought. he brought down his own company!!! Everybody hates Audiomobile now. Except you, 009! LOL Just kidding man....

I read some of that one thread and I got a kick out of it I will have to wait to judge Audiomobile by the product they put out and not by what was conversed back and forth over the internet. It does seem though that quite a few people don't like Audiomobile based on that thread.....

Yeah, I know, but just because the owner is an egotistical a$$ doesn't necessarily mean that they put out a bad product
