I'm afraid it's not just that easy. Are you guys looking to replace the stock tweets? Or what? Just looking to add some highs? First off, do you have the monsoon system?

Yes, I am wanting to replace the stock speakers in the door. I have replaced the stock HU with an Alpine 7894 and i have a sub, box, amp to hook up in the next couple of weeks. My next thing was going to be to replace the front with component speakers and maybe unplug the rest of the stock speakers. Whatcha think?

Edit: I do have the monsoon, minus the HU of course...but not for too much longer.

I have read good things about Max Fidelity tweets, and some Vifa tweets too, I don't actually have experience with them however just read reviews ...

How much money are you looking to spend? Got enough for the Focal 165a? Or there is an auction on Ebay for a used set of Focal 165K2. If you can pick em' up for under $250, that'd be a good deal. If you can afford better, lemme know. I'm sure I can find something for ya!

I was looking to spend around $150-200 for new, so the 165a's look to be right up my alley. What are some comparable ones in that range?

What do you think about leaving out back speakers? Or would getting mid-bass's in the back improve my sq for later on down the road? Thanks for all the advice!

JB, I couldn't find much info on Max Fidelity or Vifa and I've been scouring the net. Do you know of any good sites for reviews?

As far as rear speakers go, I feel they are unnecessary and would rather spend more money up front on some nicer components..

Max Fidelity Tweet Review

I couldnt find vifa reviews as fast as that one but i will keep looking

Ok, still shopping around and researching some of the product lines you've both listed. I also ran across, what seems to be a really good price on some CTD classics 6.5's. Anyone with experience with these?

Don't have any personal experience with them, but CDT is a very well respected name.

Ok, I think i'm gonna go with the 165a's. I have a v12 80x2 amp that I'm running to an e10k. I wanna use that amp to power the focals and get a nice sub amp...$300 is really the most i wanna spend. Any ideas?

What about this ?

The V12 amp you have does 80Wx2@2ohms, correct? This means that the components will only get 40W a piece. No biggie, just making sure you understand that.
And since you already have one alpine, you have to go with alpine for the sub! hehehehe Just a pet peeve of mine. Gotta have matching amps. So your selection is right on target. But I thought you said you could spend up to $300? Then how about the M500? That would really get the edk moving!!! Watch the gains, but you'll have the power if you ever decide to add another edk.
