Bad Speaker
The speaker on my driver's side door is thumping and has a REALLY annoying buzzing sound. I have to turn the fade to the rear speakers because the sound gets to me.
What is going wrong here? I don't blast my radio and always shut it off before I turn my car off. I have the stock Monsoon with the in-dash CD player.
How do you get the driver's side door panel off to access the speaker?

I don't know if your panel is the same as the lt1 cars, but if it is, here ya go:
First off, have your window rolled all the way down
Underneath the armrest there is a large screw, uncrew that
on the top of the arm rest there are 2 large screws as well, unscrew that
pop off the switch panel with the power windows/locks/mirrors, if you break the little clips no biggy, they're .82 from the dealer.
unplug the wires and move that out of the way
now behind where the lever is to unlock the door there is a small phillips screw unscrew that and it has to be lifted up and out, kinda wierd, but you'll see how it works.
then you have to remove the red lock slider thing that you can unlock the door with, it just clips on, you're not going to break it, just pull hard.
after all of those are out of the way, your door panel will lift up and out, if you have any questions just ask, if it doesn't work, i guess ls1 doors are different.

if it's doing that, it might be blown. Another quick way to check would be to just remove the speaker grill rather than taking the whole door off b/c unless you are ready to replace the speaker, no point in taking the door off.

Can't do it in a 99, they are plastic cemented in there. Only way is to remove the entire door.

Yeah, but most people prefer not having to snap anyting during it's removal. Mine are the same way, but I think the best meathod is to remove them once the door panel is off. So either way I think the should remove the door panel, it's not hard to get off. Mine have been off a good dozen times.

. Guess that means it's time to invest in a far superior aftermarket system
.
