Auto Headlamps and Daytime Running Lamps
Auto Headlamps and Daytime Running Lamps
I bypassed my automatic headlights with a relay and an additional fog lamp switch. When the switch is in the on position, the led is on, and relay is in the open position. This shows that the automatic headlight function is active.
Then I wired the relay into the a and b terminals in the smaller connector on the DRL module. When the switch is in the off position, it powers the relay to make a connection between the a and b terminals, effectively disabling the auto headlamps and daytime running lamps.
This is an advanced way of just connecting the two wires together at the ambient light sensor.

To remove the Daytime Running Lamp function (without removing auto headlamps).
Find the DRL module behind the radio
On the large connector, cut wires in the following pin locations.
Pin B and E, these wires were Dk Blue and Dk Blue w/White
Pin G and C, these wires were Lt Blue and Lt Blue w/White
Now hook the wire together where they come out of the harness.
Lt Blue to Lt Blue w/White
Dk Blue to Dk Blue w/White
Test to make sure turn signals and auto headlamps function properly.
Note: the 4 cut wires on the DRL side will no longer be used.
