01 Camaro parking lights

So on my v6 Camaro the parking lights don't turn off or I don't know how. Since it is illegal to drive with them on in California, I'd like to fix this, anyone know a fix or a reason why it's doing this?

Sounds like you mean the DRLs (daytime running lights). They're the orange lights on the front that come on when you put the e-brake down all the way and are always on. As far as i know, they're not illegal anywhere in North America, but I don't know about Cali specifically.

If you want to disable them anyway, there's a guide here http://bit.ly/bz1STb

Are they on the back too? Because apparently the yellow lights in the back are also on according to my friends.

Those are your turn signals (the centermost amber lights on rear), if they are on all the time, that's quite strange. On any and all 97+ taillights they shouldn't come on unless your turn signal or 4-way flashers are on.

Is it just the amber lights that are on, or are the center section, outside sections, and the rear side marker lights also on?

Im currently working on a quick fix for the Daytime Running Lamps. They appear to be the park lights at first glance, but the are actually the front turn signals that are activated by the DRL module.

Im going to disable the DRLs on my car, but I want to leave the auto headlamps.

There are a couple differences in the wiring for DRL cars and non-DRL cars. It should just be moving 2 wires.

Ill update as I go...

Ok test went well, simple fix!

To remove the Daytime Running Lamp function (without removing auto headlamps).

Find the DRL module behind the radio

On the large connector, cut wires in the following pin locations.

Pin B and E, these wires were Dk Blue and Dk Blue w/White
Pin G and C, these wires were Lt Blue and Lt Blue w/White

Now hook the wire together where they come out of the harness.

Lt Blue to Lt Blue w/White
Dk Blue to Dk Blue w/White

Test to make sure turn signals and auto headlamps function properly.

Note: the 4 cut wires on the DRL side will no longer be used.

That writeup removes both the DRL and Auto headlamps.

I retained the auto headlamps while deleting the DRLs.
