Alpine Deck Cutting Out, Power Issues

I'm currently running an Alpine CDA-9813 in my T/A. For months it has been no problem at all. Lately, when driving the stereo will just cut out at random and the deck will "Reboot". I dont lose any memory and it will either stay off for a few seconds or up to a minute. I have checked every connection and even re-soldered and re-wrapped every wire to no avail. I am running a 10-gauged fused connection to the battery like Alpine recommended and even tested without my sub amp connected and got the same results. Any suggestions? When the stereo is cutting out, if I hit the power lock, window switches it sometimes causes the stereo to shut off so I believe this is a power issue of some sort, I just dont know where to start?

Re: Alpine Deck Cutting Out, Power Issues

Try to see if you remember hooking it up backwards or fudging the install when you initially put the HU in.
Alpine is super super sensitive to power in the wrong place.. IE..12v on the remote wire.. or... 12v on the memory wire instead of power wire...
I literally fried my 7995 alpine just by momentarily hooking up the 12v to a spot where it looked like it should go... then realized it was some silly color code mix-up.. and poof... no radio.
So ya, Alpine is super sensitive to power issues as it is.. It could just be a faulty HU.. I wouldnt be surprised.
If its still under warranty....take it in.. swap it out.
If not.. I dont know what to tell you.

Try cleaning the faceplate contacts... sometimes if they are dirty, they will lose contact and re-boot the HU. I've had that problem in the past, and it's now part of my standard cleaning of the car.

A Q-tip and a little rubbing alcohol work great.

Re: Alpine Deck Cutting Out, Power Issues

Did you wire a new constant going all the way to the car's battery? SOME Alpine decks require you to do this, otherwise they won't get enough power, according to Alpine.
