Alarm Install Problems!!
Alarm Install Problems!!
When hooking up my Viper 550ESP alarm in my '94 Z28 Vert I ran into a few problems. Most importantly, my dome light stays on ALL the time now, unless the "Courtesy" 15A fuse is pulled from the fuse block. Second, the parking light wire from the alarm is hooked up to the Brown (+) parking light wire right behind the headlight switch. Now, when I arm/disarm the car, AS THE LIGHTS FLASH either once or twice, the car makes the sound of having left my headlights on. The more I keep thinking about it, the more it makes sense that the sound would always occur, whenever the alarm makes my parking lights flash. Any ideas?
my guess would be that you are using the incorrect door trigger wire off your alarm, you should have a negative door trigger so you would use the green door trigger wire from the alarm and not the purple if you are using the green wire you may want to try diode isolating the door trigger. as foor the chime when the parking lights come on thats how it should be.
also where did you tap into your door trigger from? the wire should be "grey" behind the left rear speaker or on some models grey w/black behind the drivers kick panel.

The dinging from the parking lights is normal. No big deal. As far as you dome lights staying on. Your car has a negitive dome light circuit. Make sure you use the negitive door trigger wire off the alarm brain. In my car I used the white wire in the same location you got your parking light wire. I've never had any problems with mine. I installed a security system in a 94 camaro last week at my work and I used that same white wire and had no problems.
