alarm compenits

Did a search and nothing extreamly relivant came up so hers my question. I'm gonna be upgrading my alarm yet again. With a remote starter and a motion sensor. I know with a remote starter system you need something to bypass the passkey 2 system so could some one recomend me a good bypass moduel. And also could some one recomend me a good motion sensor. I don't like cheap **** and willing to pay good money to buy it. Currently teh alarm is just standard viper model 791xv with a one shock sensor mounted in the dash and starter kill while the alarm is enguaged. So does any one else recomend I get anything else while I'm upgrading my alarm? I'm starting to get concerned with the "hood rats" that are starting to infest my neighborhood that just wanna start trouble and also there has been a recnt rash of car break-ins in my neightborhood also. The last one was just a few houses down from me and freaked me out quite a bit. I know this place is turning in to a hell and I need to get out of this place and move on so plz don't say it.

Thanks
Gary

Re: alarm compenits

You may already know this, but your 791xv has remote start capabilty. You just need to hook up the brake shutdown (brown), tach (purple/white), hoodpin (grey), and neutral safety (black/white in the same harness as tach and hoodpin) wires in order for that function to work. If your car is a camaro or firebird you have VATS and not the passkey system. You don't need a module you just need a relay and a resistor of the same value as the one in your key. Locate the two vats wires in the orange tubing running out of the steering column and cut one of them. Wire the relay up like so:

85 -- Status wire from alarm (blue)
86 -- +12V Constant (fuse it)
30 -- VATS module side of cut wire
87a -- key cylinder side of cut wire
87 -- tap into the other vats wire (put the resistor in series on this wire)

Get the DEI motion sensor. You should be able to get it from your local best buy.

Re: alarm compenits

well I'm not installing it I'm having a coworker installing it for me but I don't know what to look for when buying alarm stuff. I know stick with name brand stuff but I'm not sure about shock sensors and motion sensor I don't know who makes them or what to look for when comparing brands and other stuff. I just need to be educated on the matter.
