Oh yeah, those buttons do turn to goo. More like a sticky paste, like when Jb weld won't solidify.
Anyway, the WD40 straw won't fit, its too tight and won't budge to trigger the control. I need something thinner than the straw but thicker than a paper clip and that can be cut with scissors. Any suggestions?

I had a mechanic use the straw trick from a can of wd40 to fix the controls on my 1994 formula convertible. It does work. The rubber pieces cannot be found and this fix worked great. I appreciate the info very much.
