8" subs in the passenger speaker compartments?

I might have dreamed this up, but I thought there was a post on how to put 8" or smaller subs in the passenger speaker compartment. If anyone has any information on how to do this, please let me know.

Thanks

are you talking about the sail panels? If you are or even if you are talking about the front door speakers, most people just cut out the hole bigger and reinforce the area around the speaker hole, either with some MDF or a couple of layers of sound deading. But just hack the panel enough to make the speaker fit.

I was looking at the monsoon stereo homepage and they said that the two stock "subs"(or midbasses, whatever) are ran as a 2ohm load by having the two 4ohm stock "subs" running together. If you take a sub that is rated at 4ohms (just same ratiing as the stockers) like the Kicker VR 8 inch sub, you would get a 2ohm load. Wouldnt this work? Would you really need to upgrade the stock amp then? I would like to know too cause this seems like a pretty idea or maybe i am just stupid...

if the the two stock speakers are wired parllel to the amp, then yeah, the amp would see a 2 ohm load if you replace both speakers with a 4 ohm sub. Now whether or not the amp will be ample to push those subs is a different story. Over all, I would suggest to totally rip out the stock system and start over from scratch including running new wires for the system.

Paul, just out of curiosity, would it be able to push them enough for what we are talking about, like enough to hear them work?

it just depends on what you are looking to accomplish. When I use to work at an audio shop, I was bored and hooked up a 10" sub a head unit and it played, not very loud but it did play. I'm not sure what's the power rating on the Bose system but all I can say is that the sub will work, how loud it will get is very difficult to judge and also depends on the sensitivity rating of the sub.

you HAVE to make sure those subs you choose are FREE AIR subs or you will not get the sound you are looking for! free air subs are different than enclosure subs......do your research on this!
