2000 camaro speakers
2000 camaro speakers
Just wondering if there were any options to upgrade the size or number of speakers in the 2000 camaro. Right now I have, I believe the 6 speaker set. with one in each door, two in the back seats and two under the hatch. I saw that there was a mount for an additional speaker (tweeter?) under each of the hatch panels. Should I add a tweeter or just hook up a bigger speaker and fill the space?
Re: 2000 camaro speakers
pure sound is my take, the ability to listen to the music really loud w/o hearing a speaker rattle. I was actually thinking of just replacing the backs (4"'s?) with a 6x9 or whatever would fit back there. and just replacing the others with high-end speakers that can handle high output.

Re: 2000 camaro speakers
My understanding is that the factory HU is of low quality, and just getting better speakers will not be the solution. Many on this board have scrapped the Monsoon or Delcrap HU and replaced with Alpine, JL, etc. I'm in the process of doing so, just need to find a good installer. I figure high-end speakers will be wasted with the quality of sound the factory HU is putting out. Just my coupla cents worth.
Re: 2000 camaro speakers
Honestly you could do all upgrades your self, what you really need to do is get rid of that factory deck and get a nice aftermarket one and get a nice amp to power some component speakers up front, ditch the hatch speakers, and either ditch the back seat speakers or put a decent coaxial in there or maybe a nice midbass speaker and or add a sub in the hatch, and it will be music to ur ears
Re: 2000 camaro speakers
well I just got a pioneer p80mp. very nice unit. but the speakers are still rattling. An audio buddy of mine said that I might just need to bypass the stock amp... BTW what size are the door speakers?
Re: 2000 camaro speakers
Any pics of the Premier HU in your car? I have the same one from a previous car, wanted to see how it looks mounted. Does it stick out of the dash at all? I was also thinking about getting that Dash kit that has Camaro that lights up above it.
Re: 2000 camaro speakers
diddy- Ill see if I can get some pics(gotta find a camera) In my opinion it looks great. the mount kit I got puts the player in the middle. There seem to be some issues with the wiring needing to go right where the grommet seat is for the stock player. I broke mine off with the last player I had so this wasnt to big of a problem. And cramming all of the wires into the space back there is a pain (too many harnesses for me)
Penta- I plan on getting really really good speakers. I love the way the pioneer 3-way coaxials sound in my CRX and would like something similar, but if there is a better and badder speaker than the pioneer coaxial Id love to know. Is it too difficult to run the wires through the tube (door to body) I just ran them outside on the rex, cause I dont really care how it looks.

Re: 2000 camaro speakers
Running them through the doors is a piece of cake I have pushed 2 wires through before without much trouble and that was in my very early install days. Personally I dont like 3 ways i prefer a 2 way, i would look at the CDT coaxials and the Inifinty coaxials thats all I would put in my own car but thats personal preference. Do you plan on amping them or just running of of the HU. A link to some CDT Speakers http://www.thezeb.com/p-CDT-Audio-CL...ers-101087.htm
