2 OHM or 4 OHM???
Well, from what I hear I made a huge mistake and allowed Best Buy to install the head unit. They spliced all the wires and ran it into an adapter and blew one of my front speakers while they were at it . I just went out and unhooked the bose subwoofer and I dont think it was that I was hearing. The speakers in the walls of the rear seats are either blown or just cant handle having any bass to them? So I dont think its the new subs or the bose sub because the rear speakers sound like hell! Im going to get some of those bass blocker resisitors and see if that will get rid of the distortion? If I need to I will buy new speakers for back there but I dont know if that will help considering I dont have any type of crossover or anything controlling whats going to them?
As for the bose HU, it was a tape deck and it came with the 2 fronts, 2 rear seat speakers and the bose sub in the hatch. I dont know a model # or anything? If it will help I will dig it out of the closet.
Thanks,
Rich

the speakers have their own amp and x-over and they all are designed to work with each other (Bose).
what happened to me was, I bought a CDX-MP30 from circuit city, and had them install it. they used an adapter. it sounded good, but, since the stock speaker are already amplified (and were ment to work with a Bose HU.) the system was loud. which is O....K. after a while a got new speakers and ran new wire. it sounded a litle lower but better sound quality.
a problem you might come across, is, since your feeding your speaker with two amps (the stock Bose already in the car, and, the internal amp in your aftermarket HU.) your speakers are as twice as loud as the are soppused to be, hence, your subs are not matching the volume. you could just jack up the gain, but then it will clip and/or overeheat. you would be better off buying new speakers and running new wire.
are you running the remote turn on directly from the amp? or from where?

Ok heres the latest update! I have decided not to be concerned with the small rear speakers due to the fact that I have lost power to the amps ( or blown them up? ) and now the subs are no longer working
I checked all fuses and they seem to good, the ground wire on the first amp was loose but after tightening it, they still wouldnt come on.
So until another day, I will just listen to a crappy system and cry as I think of how it sounded for 2 days
Thanks for the help and I will post how it all ends up!

Ok guys please come thru for me this time? When I check the amps power in the back, they are only reading that around half a volt is reahing them? I ran a seperate power wire just to see if that was the problem but that wasnt it either. When I used one of the amps as a ground and checked to make sure the wire was hot back there it read around 13/14 so I assume the ground is good, but when I connect that same wire to the amp it goes back to the half a volt? If somehow I fried both amps at the same time would that cause them not to ground properly? Please any help would be great!
Thanks in advance,
Rich

Alright, just wanted to give an update. I wanted to be sure it was the amp so I went out and hooked up an old jvc 50x50 amp that I had in the closet. My system with the aftermarket HU and bose setup actually sounded decent before but after the problems with my two amps, the setup was sounding pretty bad? Well I hooked the jvc up and I dont think its working either, but it sounds like the stereo is back to where it was before all of this.
Im wondering if the remote wire is somehow causing a problem in the system? Before I had stated that I tried the hot and ground with nothing else hooked up, but I ws mistaken, the remote was still connected. So is it possible that the remote wire was grounded somewhere and was causing a problem with the system?
2nd question is, if this little jvc 50x50 is working wouldnt I be able to really feel the subs working? All I can feel is a little vibration from them that I have felt the whole time coming from the bose subs enclosure touching the sub box? I had the same viibration when I unhooked the amps all together?
Thanks again,

just to clear up a few things, running only a single coil out of a DVC subwoofer is ok. You'll just get a different impedence and slightly different frequency response
