Question 1997 Camaro Z28 where is my alarm?

Can anybody tell me where my alarm is on my 1997 Z28?
I looked in the pasanger side kick panel and nothing is there a the plastic holder.
I want to see if it has an antenna.
I have to be a foot away from the car to arm and disarm it.
I check the bat in the remote and it's good.
And I also cleaned the contacts with no luck.

Thanks,
Chris G.

Are u sure that it is actually an alarm system, i have never come across any lt1 with a facotry alarm system that i know of. I didn't think that they even introduced them until the ls1. Anyway i am having the same problem with my keyless entery system. Also would like to hear a solution to this problem.

97 alarm

I have a 97 Z28. My alarm is in the truck, passenger side under the panel. You can adjust the sensitivity of it there as well

yes, iirc it is on top of the wheel well, look in where the spare tire goes

there is a white dial you can turn to adjust it, but i had to just disconnect mine

Question

LOL 5 year old thread.

Yea the part in the rear wheel well is to adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor.
I'm looking for the main brain of the alarm to see if it has an antenna that I might be able to do something to to get more range out of it.
I think it's on the passenger side sail panel close to the floor.
I was at a salvage yard a month or two ago and saw a box there.
I would love to check it out on my car and look up the part number on it and see if it's the brain of the alarm but I have know idea how to take that close hook off so I can take the sail panel off.
Let me know thanks,

wow

i did not even notice that, and the crazy part about it is that five years later you still need help with it

if no one answers it by then i will take a look in the factory manual tomorrow and see if there is anything about it for you

Thanks I know there are two types of alarms that they used.
One had an antenna and one did not as far as I can tell.
The one that has an antenna I think you might be able to make it longer or just lay it out if it's wrapped up and not laid out.
Thanks again.
