ZR1 top speed: 205 mph (video)

In many ways, I see the base coupe with the Z51 package as being closer to Corvette perfection. It's a well balanced, more than ample package for the street at a fraction of the price. You even get the same interior.
Not to downgrade this car's accomplishments.....

I suppose there are many ways to define perfection and a certain possibility to be different for each person. But I think of the late Zora Arkus-Duntov and his dreams that the Vette should be more than just an American sports car but one able to take on the best brands of the world and beat them. It would be hard to argue that this ZR1 certainly has the tools to achieve that goal.

Why is everyone getting so excited over this number? The Z06 has a top speed of 198 mph. I'm assuming the ZR1 isn't geared for the extreme top end, so a top speed number doesn't mean too much. I want to know the 'ring times and quarter mile acceleration. I'm thinking 0-60 times will be a loss since those times will probably go up in tire smoke.

The difference between 192 and 205 is big power-wise when keeping the same aerodynamics.
Plus it just sounds cool to have crossed over the 200 barrier!

I'm pretty sure someone posted this video a couple days ago, in the thread about the official SAE horsepower.
I don't know what's official, but I remember a video from back when the C6 Z06 came out, and that particular Z06 topped 200.

Keep in mind that a simple tail wind of 8 mph is all that it'd take to bump the top speed 8 mph on an otherwise flat surface.

Official HP Rating - SAE 638 BHP
Official Torque Rating - SAE 604 TQ
12mm stainless steel head bolts
Brembo ceramic brakes - 15.5" front rotors, 15" rear Rotors, 148 sq inch pad contact area
Engine governed to 210 mph, GM showed video of 205 mph pass at Papenburg, Germany, Patrick Herman was the test driver, car was extremely stable

Curb weight (full gas tank and all fluids) 3324 lbs < 3350 with uplevel leather interior and chrome wheel option. >
Dry weight 3155 lbs
5.2 lbs per HP ratio (3324 lbs/638 HP)
Speedometer will read up to 220 mph
HUD will have a boost guage when in track mode
Seven exterior color options planned at this time.

Those numbers seem right to me. I remeber the ZR1 was said to be about 200lbs more than the Z06 which is about 3155, and it is.

I wonder how stable it is at those speeds?
B/c it looked pretty stable.
I remember Mario A. test driving a Lambo @ near 210mph and said it was scary, and couldn't maintain its lane, all over the road.
Back then the McLaren F1 was hitting 220mph.
