Re: Z06 Corvette

The Blue Devil is the 'Vette with the carbon fiber body. That's still a few years off though.

I'm curious if the z06 is also the same. Hmmmm

Re: Z06 Corvette

80K seems a little steep for the Vette considering how much less the base car costs. But also consider that a Porsche 911 S starts at 80K and has only 355 hp. Also, I doubt the Vette is a carbon fiber body, maybe some carbon fiber parts like the hood or fenders. The Viper is about the same price, and goes just about as fast, but consider that the Z06 will be vastly more refined than the Viper. That's a major selling point for a lot of Vette owners. You can take the Vette on a road trip and be comfortable. I really wouldn't want to ride in a Viper for 8 hours. Also, the Z06 will have a much nicer exhaust note.

Re: Z06 Corvette

if you figure in inflation zr1's weren't all that much cheaper and people bought them (in very limited numbers) so there would be a following for an 80k z06. but a carbon fiber car for 80k? thats not happening, i can't imagine its that much lighter than the plastic anyway.

gm will slap the 7.0 in the existing car, through in some upgraded suspension and brakes, some cool wheels, hang a 65k price tag on it and roll it out the door, viper beater or not.

I'd say, I would have the C6 Z06 and you'd still JUST have a Viper! I would even take a base Vette anyday over a clunky Viper, but that is just me.

Re: Z06 Corvette

I seriously doubt $80k.

Even if the guy did get to "snoop around a plant", and they did have a Z06 there... I doubt it had "This will cost $80k" written on it, or I doubt anyone said a price... and even if they did, it's doubdtful that person would even know what the price will be...

Think about the difference between the success fo ZR-1 and Z06. ZR-1 was a HELL fo a car... but the price was just too much more than the standard Vette. Z06 sold EXTREMELY well, because it was a REASONABLE bump in price to step up if you wanted the hotter performance version.
