awd or advanced tech in an f5?

just got thinking the other day and thought i'd throw a poll up here

if you had the choice of these 2 on the f5, which would you choose? (this is debateable it even matters anymore now that we have new info from guy, red, etc. but..)

awd or...

a rwd coupe with traction control, some sort of active handling like the c5 introduced, and a "1/2 power switch"

remember back when the zr1s came out, they had a "1/2 power switch" thing
i think it was called valet mode or something but anyways..it killed half the power of the car so the car couldnt be taken on a joyride by a valet (even though 200+ hp is still enough to do something)

what if the camaro had this so you northeast and weather concerned people could get around in the winter
easier to take off, harder to lose control (with the decreased power, traction control, etc.) and still able to do those smoky burnouts we really love when we flip the switch off for the summer
not to mention, it would save some weight over awd, keep true to the heritage, and we wouldnt have to be worried about designing and implementing high cost awd components and worry about breaking them also

just a thought that popped in my head, let me know what you guys think

edit: deleted the previous thread, poll now included

You know, with displacement on demand, you could probably set it to stay in four cylinder mode if you wanted. I mean theorectically it could be done, not that GM is necessarily going to offer it like that.

I would like to see thoes kind of saftey controls on the car. Traction control with some other crazy fandangled gizmos. Save AWD for a sedan or something.

I think both should be offered as options, but I'll always go with RWD

the 1/2 power thing was used back in the zr1 days, so that'll be easy to recreate
traction control- already have also
active handling- used on the c5s, might be a little expensive or too "upscale" to use on the camaro, who knows

that and maybe sandbags in the trunk if you need them sound like they could handle some snow to me

i just saw all those clamoring for awd in a couple of other threads and just figured they seemed to outnumber those rwd people (or they just reply more )

Awd on a top dog z28, with all the performance goodies. Make it around $38k, and make it limited production, because obviously there are only going to be a select few who want a $38k Camaro.

Thats NOT too much to ask for. Its why Ford/Chevy is losing marketshare.

Even I am starting to appreciate those awd subaru things

Re: awd or advanced tech in an f5?

well, let suburu do that AWD drive thing, GM still owns a major stake in that company. I'd be all for those electric gizmos as long as we don't have torque managment or an abuse mode. All of them should be able to be turned off by simply pushing one button once though.
