You want GTO news?
Here's a tidbit for you, from SLP Engineering:
Again, GM emphasizes it's anti-reto feeling for non-niche cars:

SLP founder Ed Hamburger said his company will offer three souped-up GTO models, one with 370 hp, one with 389 hp and one badged the "421 Judge," a version that will make 421 hp.
Hamburger said SLP researched the Judge name and found that ownership had been allowed to lapse. He says he also trademarked the phrase "Here's Comes The Judge," which could be used in advertising...
...Hamburger said SLP's GTO packages are aimed at addressing what GTO enthusiasts say are shortcomings of the new car - the lack of a functional hood scoop, rumbling dual exhausts and an aggressive appearance that signals the car's tire-shredding performance...
...Kraut would not talk about future GM-built super-tuned versions of the GTO other than to say various groups within GM are looking at the car. "There's a real need for personalization and customization in that category of car."

GM officials have said they specifically don't want the new GTO to look like the old models for fear it will be perceived as a flash in the pan retro car and have a short shelf life.

Holden is already working on an engineering solution for left-hand-drive cars, which it hopes to adopt in time for the next-generation Monaro/Pontiac GTO due out in 2007
Interesting information.
I sure hope they'll use a spell checker before using that phrase...

I understand using the heritage name, and that it will play hard with purists, but I'm sorry, 'Judge' is kind of a corny name that should've stayed in the 60s...Might as well bring back RoadRunner Graphics and a horn that says 'beepbeep!'
I'm interested in what mods they will add to the 421 package, but I think with the GTO probably underrated, they can get 370HP with an intake, and 389 with intake and an exhaust...
By the way, I heard a lot of die-hard purists clamor about wanting a hood-mounted tach...I honestly don't know, so can someone tell me what's so special or what's the advantage of a hood tach? How did the idea first come about?

If I''m not mistaken I believe in the Pontiac Grand Prix brochure and Corvette brochure they had an image of the HUD and it had a tachometer bar in the display. I'm sure the next generation HUD's will have them. (BMW's 5 series has the feature but no pics that clearly show it, because different displays can be obtained)

Same idea as a HUD keep your eyes on the road and still see what is going on. I could see the HUD being the replacement for the HMT, Hood Mounted Tach, if they could show not only speed but also the tachometer readout. Does anyone know if they do that???

Vettes with the HUD have the ability to show a tach if the driver chooses. The GP, however, does not. It does have a read out on which gear though, for those with the TapShift.

maybe someone who owns one can chime in.
