Yet another Camaro concept. Attention anyone who went to any coupe styling clinic
Thanks for the better pictures 91Z. While it does look a little Camaro-like, the body doesn't have that < shape on the sides and the front and rear aren't really "Camaro." Not quite flowing enough, don't like the roof, and quarter window/panel. Maybe a little too 1st Gen, but I do like the Third Gen GFX.

Muscletone = Mustang
Muscletone = Mustang. And Mustangs look good too, -- esp. with that 'ram air' hood scoop. But that's all that muscle tone hotwheels thing is. Rather I'd say the designers based it off a stang over a camaro. Sorry just skimming through this thread, hope I didn't miss something.
Oh, and I agree with those that disagree with these 5th gen concepts that are supposed to be camaros. They look nothing like what I expect a Camaro and Trans-am to be. Nothing. I haven't seen one single concept that says "Yes!, That's it" Cuz that's how I expect I'll feel when I see the next One. And chances are, GM has already designed it.

Looks like Ford will win the Pony wars. None of the concept car I've seen could match against the Mustang. Sad, GM will fail us again.

Hard to say that since GM hasn't released a single Camaro concept yet......

I looked at your original story about the Gongos clinic. Overall, what was your impression of the car you saw? Based on looks, would it be a serious contender for the 2005 Mustang? Also, did the concept take the more upright sitting approach of the Mustang, or did it continue with Gen 4 like styling?
Thanks!
Thanks!

vs. the 2005 Mustang? I got the impression that the car was not going after the Mustang crowd. The looks were subdued, by Camaro stds., but it's lines were appealing enough to draw on a larger auto-enthusiasts pool. It didn't seem to me like the car was GM's response to the Mustang. I felt the car was meant to stand on its own right. That being said there was an 03 Mustang GT and an 03 Honda Accord next to it.
Cool!
The clinic study story that you have shared with us is probably the single biggest Camaro-related news item of late. The fact that they showed this concept to be judged is a good sign, at least that is what I believe.

Impression: I liked it, I thought the dimensions of the car were perfect. The short overhangs made it much more reasonable as a daily driver. Yet the car was large enough to NOT be confused with an import. The stance was wide and low and that made it look mean. The car wasn't as low as a 4th gen but it wasn't anywhere near as upright as the Mustang. The front RETRO clip looked disjointed from the rest of the car. The rear of the car was absolutely awesome. It was soo different from anything out there that it I felt it would make the car instantly identifiable. I wasn't a fan of the front-end, being that it was a bit RETRO and all. Is they built it (with a better front end) I would get myself one and probably one for the wife too.

Obviously it wasn't one, but if I read you description, and didn't know any better, I'd guess you were describing the Pontiac G6.... Especially after being reminded that most Mustang buyers would have considered a Grand Am or Cavalier if they hadn't bought their Mustang, according to R.P.

Danno, did they give any indication of being FWD or RWD?
I dunno it doesn't do it for me. Looks too bubbly, especially the front end. I think it would be nice to lean more toward the older design from the late 60's. I saw a concept that was orange from that sticky in this 5th gen discussion forum. I like that one way better.
I have sat through MANY styling courses and have to say that this is a decent rendition of the SS. I however do not believe that this would pass as a camaro replacement. Although the front end proportions obviously resemble those of any 4th gen, I just feel the car is lacking the same thing that detered many from it in the first place. I however DO believe that this concept would have tickled me in a better place than the australian grand am that they are calling the GTO.

The car had some pretty serious rubber out back (wider than my KDs) so I doubt it was FWD. The stance was similar to the G6 concept but it was an SS coupe.
spawnz28: take a look at the one in my photo-briefcase, the front is no longer bubbly and a little retro.
