Yeee-haaawww!!! Git yerself an '06 General Lee
Re: Yeee-haaawww!!! Git yerself an '06 General Lee
There was a point in the Atlanta Journal Constitution about how one, the city or set they filmed in doesen't look anything like atlanta, and two, there is a scene in the movie where the flag is discussed.
Basically is said something along the lines of it emphasizing what a "Rebel" flag meant over the who historicism of the Confederacy. Which was nice and sugary, but I bought it.
Although I thought that every one knew the civil war had about ===> <==== this much to do with slavery anyway.

It comes as no surprise that the idea was written on a napkin at a cocktail party -where they must have all been wasted beyond recognition. So they slap on a confederate flag and the numebrs "01" on the side then tack on a nice hefty $15k price for all that "work" they did to it huh?
Stupidest car ever, the people who did this should take heed the next time they come up with some great idea while in a drunken stupor.

One thing is for sure - movies DO sell cars.
Bandit Edition T/As, Bullitt Mustangs, Eleanors, etc.

On a side note, I just saw the movie last night. Other than killing no less than 5 Chargers at a minimum (if you go see it, wait for the scenes during the credits!!!), it was a cool movie, and exactly what I expected to see. Rednecks, muscle cars, a story line with holes you could drive a truck through, and Jessica Simpson's legs and, uhm, uh...
A fully gratifying experience

saw it last night too. felt just like watching the old show, but longer. if i'm not mistaken, they killed ALOT more than 5 chargers. i'd definetley recommend seeing it for a good laugh.

Oh, I have the distinct feeling they killed more than 5. I know they used up 10 doing Starsky and Hutch. Its just that, you actually witness 5 dying in the credits

link to cover shot (you have to have membership to see the entire article).
A total of 26 units were consumed if memory serves correctly.
They had pics of all kinds of body panels, hoods, doors and the like that were all painted the same, sitting in a big warehouse waiting to be bolted on to replaced ruined ones. They basically had a full-blown body shop going all-out while shooting the car scenes - lots of pics in the mag article.
Most interesting deal of them all was a guy on the west coast that offered the prop-buyers his car for the sum of $1, and wanted a contract guaranteeing that he got the car back after production wrapped-up - REGARDLESS OF IT'S CONDITION. Since his car was in pretty good shape they used it for some of the close-up and background scenes, he lucked-out and got it back in good shape (with a few scratches and such).
Talk about a high-dollar car now?!?! I wonder if it's heading for E-bay soon...

What this means to you: Bid on a latter-day "General Lee" edition of the 2006 Dodge Charger; a Daisy Duke doll is not included.
