C4 was hard to get in and out of... far more so than any Camaro... C4 had huge doors... C4 had a super low seating position... guess why? C5 retained all of the good stuff, and got rid of the bad stuff, but didn't change the formula that makes it a Corvette ... Camaro can do that too.
of course it can, that's not the point. the point is all those things that i mentioned before were complaints against the car by the general public. so if you want the Camaro to continue selling at the same pace it has for years, then not much needs change. but if the camaro is to sell well and stay around for a while, then all those things have to be considered as compromisable. Camaro isn't about being an exclusive, all out race car. that's exactly what the 'Vette is for. Camaro is about performance for the masses and it has to be developed with that in mind. GM doesn't need a slower Corvette, it needs a Camaro.

I've heard that for the past couple years now, I won't be holding my breath.

If the compalint areas can be addressed and improved, it can be a success, exactly as C5 has proven. C5 has sold strong it's whole lifespan... it's residual value is lightyears ahead of where any C4 was...

I just feel that Camaro does not need to become something it is not (or perhaps hasn't been since 1969) to be a success.

"Closest thing to a Vette yet"... that was the tag line... If someone wants just want a regular car, there are a ton to choose from already, and a lot are returning to RWD..

I plenty excited for the C6 and the possibility of a 5th gen. The new camaro will be an awesome car with Lutz running the show and keeping the marketing lameazzes with the retro gun away from it. I'll be in line to buy a new camaro.
