Full sized, tough, hard working, "petrol guzzling beasts", like F-150's, Silverados and Rams are what tradesmen buy. An El Camino would be a curious, car based novelty to this crowd.

To them,it would be like wearing Gucci loafers to the job site.

That's the concept I mentioned earlier! Now that one looks good, IMO.

The V body Utes are supposed to carry on for a few more years after the Zeta cars come out.

I'd take a good long look at it if the Blazer was sold.

Anthony how long did it take for the V ute to come out after the V cars started? Also the Ute is 1/2 BOF and 1/2 Unibody right, with the rear being a framed ladder like structure.

V-body was already in existence (Opel)... Zeta has been designed from the ground up to cater for options like the UTE. I don't think you can compare the time it took for the V-body UTE to appear..

cmon now
i am actually an apprentice and consider myself a tradesmen (but now you can see why i'm going to college and the military )
i think it could find a niche
sure, a lot of guys i know like their trucks, but then you got the guys that sometimes need to haul stuff (paint, wood, whatever) and could find a use for this and take it over a full size truck
i could definately see it getting to be a popular choice with the jobs i work on

just my .02

What Model and trim package is this car/truck? Is this modified by the aftermarket or factory? Why dont we have this truck in this trim package here?

With all the models of the Colorado out there, I don't see the point in the point in bring another truck over. As much as I love RWD, V-8's, I think a higher performance Colorado would do much better for less cost. Especially if a nice Silverado SS comes out pushing 450 Hp (dreaming)

It was a one off special order version of the HSV Maloo from a couple of years ago, I think you had to special order it.

While compact trucks ultimately killed the El Camino segment, I'm really wondering if the compact trucks are going to get killed off by the full-sized half ton competition.

I mean seriously, why would anyone buy a $31K Colorado/Canyon when just about any full-sized truck can be had for the same price? Even the fuel economy of GM's five-banger compacts is way too close to that of a full-sized rig with a V8. If a compact gets 14 mpg, then why not spring for a full-sized truck that gets 12-13 mpg?
