It would be compelling to those who care about stop light to stop light and not corner to corner. A truck will always be way to front end heavy to satisfy anyone looking for something that can carve a corner as well as cut a good 1/4 mile. Now if it happens to be AWD too....

$19,300 invoice for a reg cab Xtreme Colorado with the 4 speed auto and 3.7L I5.

If the 5.3L was a $1200 option that would put the truck at $20,500 for a Xtreme with a V8.

Xtreme package is $2500, so if you dumped that and just used the ZQ8 stuff ou could chop cost. Manybe a manual would save another $1000.

Like an H3 type vehicle, if it wasn't a 4x4, and had a V8/ZQ8?

Well, Hummer would probably not make a non 4x4 product, and would be at a higher price point than what we're talking about here.

I'm thinking "what if" Chevy created it's own version of the H3. Where you could get it with RWD, ZQ8 suspension and a 5.3. We essentially would have a truckish 5 passenger car, like what teal98 was alluding to.

Well, at least it's not another SS vs Z28 "Top Dog" thread.

FWIW: No Colarado (or any pickup truck) is going to take the place of a performance sports coupe, and never will. It's like asking if a Ford Lightning took the place of a WS6 Trans Am, just because it had the same price.

However, a 5.3 V8, 6 speed manual, $20,000 Colarado would have the same charm as the stripper 6.0 5 speed Silverado had before GM stopped offering the manual.

Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

You guys are DREAMING if you think a V-8 Colorado would come in around $20 K!!
I think some magazine did a story about the one Colorado SS concept truck (the purple one). In that article, the brand manager stated that they'd like to do that kind of truck and that it would come in for around $30-32K.

And I think it would be a great idea. Not for the $30K. If it was only marginally more expensive than an I5 ZQ8, then yeah. Great idea.

BTW, my Colly handles EXTREMELY well. It's so light (around 3,300 lbs).

Couldn't you only get that 6.0L in the heavier Silverado 2500 and wan't it only 300HP? 3400-3500lbs. 320HP Colorado would be much more sportier.

We are not talking about a LS2 fully loaded truck. What if the V8 was a stand alone option like on the TB and Silverado. Maybe a 5.3L for $1500 over a 3.7L I5

Those were the threads I was thinking of

It might be a neat vehicle, maybe even a hot rod to some people. But it definitely could not replace my Firebird.

Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

~$22,500, black, 325hp, 6-speed, ZQ8 wheels I guess, probably <3500lbs before driver... What's not to like? It's affordable, reasonably fast, somewhat versitle without being a tank, and should get decent mileage with a double overdrive final gear Without DoD!

What fuel economy is there with a fullsize and 5.3? Ive seen a non-DoD get 19mpg in an extended cab but have no feel for regular cabs or DoD motors.
