Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

No. It gets crappy gas milage and handles like a truck. I would never consider one over a sports car.

I would if you could get a T56..... A fast truck would be way more practicle to have than a 2dr coupe (for me at least)

Nope, it wouldn't get it done for me... unless it had a blower strapped on it as well.

Maybe, why do you ask?

Is this one of those "I know something, but don't want to divulge" posts?

Not really. But the expectation is that GMT355 will get the 5.3 soon....maybe even available with a manual trans, perhaps packaged as an SS.

Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

How is a high 14s BOF pickup truck going to fill the void for what will likely be a high 12s unibody musclecar? Just because they're RWD? I don't see why some people seem to consider the drive wheels more important than almost any other attribute of a vehicle.

I don't think it'll fill THAT void per se, but I do think there's a market for it.

Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

There was a market for lightnings, the Silverado SS (kinda) I don't see why a smaller pickup, with a 300hp V8, wouldn't have an even bigger market. It wouldnt get terrible gas mileage, would still be able to haul stuff, and be way more useful than a sports car. I'd get one for a work vechicle with 300hp, rwd, and a 6 speed.

Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

5.3L Colorado will do good. reg cab ZQ8 w/ V8 for $20K would be very popular and would be an interesting alternative to a Cobalt SS or V6 Camaro. Sure it isn't the same as a Camaro, but for those looking for a cheap and powerful RWD Coloard ZQ8 V8 would be a good option.

I think the Z71 guys are the ones who really want a 5.3L. DoD V8 would probably match the milage of the 3.7L I5

A ZQ8/5.3 Colorado for $20K would be quite compelling. It would probably cost abit more than that, though.

Re: Would a 5.3 Colorado.....

If I wanted a pickup, yes. But I don't want a pickup.

I don't know that I'd mind a 2 or 4 door truckish car, as long as the weight was reasonable and the handling wasn't bad.
