As long as:
-It's a Camaro.
-It's a Camaro called Camaro.
-It's a Camaro which is a 21st century "ponycar"...not a restyled GTO.
Simple requests, from prospective purchasers...wouldn't you say?
Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
I have a CD in the bank that I will be adding with some income tax money over the next few years. Come 5th gen Camaro's (cross fingers) Ill be going to dealerships looking for my next Camaro. If no Camaro.....Ill settle for a G.T.O, I need another pony car made by GM. I REALLY WANT A Z28 THOUGH!!!!

Obviously that wont happen and I don't think its a coincidence that GM keeps telling people to look at the SS concept. That’s what it's going to be based off, like how the fourth gen firebird was based off that one crazy concept in the early 90s.... and judging from the response from the SS concept; A) People didn't like it (I did.) B) It's probably not going to be named Camaro but it might, it isn't set in stone. So there you have it, will I buy a 5th gen? How the **** should I know? I don't buy a car because I liked my dads 69 z28, yellow with black racing stripes. I'll buy it because I like it aesthetically and judge it for what it offers for my money. I'm not going to marry a girl because I like her name and its been in the family a long time.

but i guess you're right, we cant really say yes or no before the company even tells us its going to happen. this was sort of an offshoot of guionM's post about chevrolet making ford gt competitors. a lot of people want it to happen but not everyone will buy it when/if it does happen.
i was simply stating that as much as i want the camaro back, and as much as i love my own, im not sure i want to buy a new version, and i was wondering who else felt this way

well, yes I am not going to walk into a Chevy dealership blind and buy a Camaro based just a name. If the car looks, acts, feels, and does everything a Camaro should, then yes I would buy one.
This is what the thread is about. If it lives up to your expecations...would you buy one?

Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
being that I have waited so long (and will continue to) I expect at minimum an optional LS2 variant. As long as it has that and good looks and is comfortable, stylish, and confidence-inspiring to drive....I will be one of the first to sign on the dotted line....
Retro, new-school, I dont care....as long as it is recognizable as a Camaro and is stylish, not gaudy...I will buy it. It needs to look good in a vert, too.
I am just getting tired of waiting and waiting....most of GMs other product dont interest me anymore....Im a DIE HARD GM guy...born into it but with the way everyone else is running their game...theres a lot of competition that cannot be ignored as an option.
Im still angry about the killin of the FBody.....tired of waiting so much.
Bottom Line: I'll probably buy the Camaro not matter what, as long as its stylish and powerful, rwd , and V8 with two doors and seats four. But I dont know if just that will ease my "pissed-offness". I still hold a grudge for the killing of the FBody..I understand they were looking at the big picture and had to do what they had to do, but nevertheless...I still have no '05 Camaro in my driveway.
If the displacement is decreased (5.3L) they need to start phasing in variable valve timing or some gadgets to keep up with the times....the three valve heads would suffice if they flowed well stock(equal or better than mildy ported LS6 heads)
Throw some gadetry in there GM! Im not a techy person myself but everyone screams for it so much....and imagine the marketing potential..."New LS5: VVT, 3v Heads, DoD, 5.3L 400 HP Wonder"
The pony car market is still there, they just need to steal some of it from the Mustang.
The new '05 one has 3v heads and VVT! Whoda thunkit? Variable geometry intake manifold as well!
Times are moving forward...even though the same mpg,hp,tq,reliability can be had with old-school designs...the majority of people that buy cars dont know jack about it. They hear "VTEC" or "DOHC" and think "its better". So just give it to them! Build it and keep it as cheap as possible and they will SELL!
I bet the new '05 stangs sell like crazy for a few years, then die off, only to have ford revive it again somehow.
Chevy needs to get a piece of this action!!!!
Note: I know this will never happen but just had to say it.

Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
You better believe it! As long as its called Camaro, and looks like a Camaro and contains the basic Camaro/pony car DNA. However, I'm planning on waiting till the Z comes out and shoot for that. Till then I'll have my v6 or maybe I'll buy a used LS1 car to hold me over. And my 5th gen def. wont have a tan interior. They are such a b!tch to keep clean and take care of!
