will you actually buy a 5th gen?
will you actually buy a 5th gen?
i was seriously pissed when i first found out that there would not be another camaro or firebird, and i wasn't really into f-bodies back then. to be honest back then i was more into ford, and i wanted to buy a foxbody mustang. nevertheless the end of f-bodies still got to me. now that i have had my camaro for more than a year, i have turned much more towards chevy.
but the main point i have here is that as much as i would like to see a new camaro come out, i havent made plans to buy one. right now id like to get a used c6 after i graduate and start making some money. maybe i'll change my mind if i saw a real 5th gen, but all this waiting and recieving nothing official other than denials has really turned me off.
if anyone reads this who has a say in the return of the camaro, dont assume you have my money in buying a vette. if a new camaro is made the way it should be, then it will most definately get my money before a mustang, charger, or any other pony car. but if i end up buying something more 'made for the track' then there is no guarantee that i will buy a vette.
chevy, if you want my money, you have two options: build a new camaro and bring back my love for pony cars, or make the new z06 affordable to a recently graduated engineer. you decide which is more tangible.

Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
Yes. BUT, I may wait till the second or third year of production. And that will depend largely on the information I glean from here.
AND, I will ALWAYS keep the 93. (Being rebuilt to the the tune of 400 ponies
)

If it comes through like some of the recent rumors, Yes.
Generally speaking, I've always felt more at home in GM sports cars and trucks than other makes. The deciding factor will be the next coupe's practicality in terms of a daily driver. I enjoy track days, but that's only once or so a year. While my family will always have a "family" car as the main car, a somewhat practical performance coupe would be in the cards for me. In other words ... the ability to actually get into and out of the back seats, a lockable trunk that can carry a weekend's worth of luggage, and 20+ mpg mixed. The 4th gen fit the bill generally speaking, but lacked that extra little bit of practicality needed for a daily use car.

Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
Yes, i am going to buy one. It will probably be the second MY if that is when the top dawg comes out and as far as i can tell that is when it will come out. Even if it is a 2009 MY, that would be around my graduation of college (2008). Preferably it would come out sooner than that, but you know what i mean... dont ya?
Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
Since there will probably only be a Camaro, it would essentially have to be the "greatest thing since sliced bread" for me to replace the Firebird with it. Not that I doubt the 5th Gen would be a much better car overall than the 4th Gens, but since I'm not very interested in the Camaro I'd probably end up purchasing a GTO, Corvette, or 2002 Formula (or TA) before a Camaro.
Re: will you actually buy a 5th gen?
Yes, but I am waiting for the higher performance model, w/e it ends up being. As long as the car looks decent, is a V8, and rwd, I will be buying it. Just gotta save up part of that 30k im gonna need

Yeah. As long as i can pick up a nice z28 (with 400hp ls2) for around/under 28g's.
Others cars i'll be looking into: used 04 mystichrome cobra, as well as 06/07 Cobra depending on how it turns out. Might also consider a used 05 c6 Z51 by then. It all depends on how dental school turns out for me, and whether i'll have enough $$$ on hand to play with. Till then, i'm very happy with my 4th gen and i don't plan on selling it anytime soon.

If it looks remotely similar to a 4th gen, I'll get one the year after they come out. If it is all square, has no overhang, and is ugly like most of the cars on the road, I probably won't. I'll just... have to get used to walking at that point I guess.
