Excuse me for the hyperbole though. Sure it's possible there are a handful of people out there with no coherency of the cars they're looking at, at a given time.

My point was, if you're in the mood for a 2 seat RWD near-luxury car, i can't see why you'd also stop and look at such a relative POS as an SRT4. Yeah the SRT4 is faster and has a **** ton more potential, but it's not even close in terms of the rest of the package.

Hell, being a 2 seater alone really by definition makes it a totally different animal. I thought it was pretty well known that (just about) nobody cross shopped fbody and vette. Granted the price difference is a bigger, but anyone buying a vette could have certainly afforded an fbod. Despite offering nearly identical drive trains and thus close performance and potential, as well as possible brand loyalty factors, it just didn't happen (much)

Don't be surprised by people's comparison shopping choices. I've sold cars for 5 years...I've seen everything. I was probably the only person in the room that was NOT surprised one day when the martian said that Mustang buyers second choice was most often a GRAND AM

When I was thinking about buying a car back in June, I compared everything from a Cobalt SS to a G6 to a GP GXP. None of those cars have ANYTHING in common other than the fact that GM makes them and they're FWD

250+hp 3.9 that would have after market goodies to wake them up. I think this could draw in the RSX-s SRT-4 350z market. (intakes, headers, exhaust, cams etc.)

LS2= Z28 I don't know why some people think the Z28 won't get a LS2. They put it in everything else. Plus 4th gens got LT1's and then the LS1's right after the corvettes.

Girls are concerned with power? That's news to me.

I don't see the need to go all out w/ the V6 model, I think it should continue to be just the "base model" w/ a 210-220ish hp setup like the current Stangs for poseurs to buy. If GMs pretty standard 3.9l V6 puts out 240ish hp that's even better, but not if it runs the cost up substantially. Why the heck would you want to spend more money on a up scale, still slow V6 Camaro that gets V8 level gas mileage when the standard Z28 model is unlikely to be much more? If you can't afford the real V8 model then face it you can't really afford to blow the money on a Camaro at all, a econo car would be a better choice...

I don't even think offering a 300ish hp midrange V8 model would be a very good idea, they tried that crap (albeit w/ significantly lower output) back w/ the thirdgens and all it did was end up hurting the cars overall image. And I definitely don't see something like a 250ish hp V6 model having enough guts for any kind of a special performance model, it'll still be slower than most Maximas and V6 Accords for crying out loud. That's not a real Camaro (or Mustang) in my book.

My lease will be up about the time the Camaro returns.

I have no problems with V6 versions but I want a V8. Just a base V8 (5.3L) and a 6 speed hardtop please.

Yeah it was all those 3rd gens with slow v8s that sold in exess of 100,000 a year for 10 years that caused the Camaro to die, not the 1 v6 and 1 v8 4thg gens with the only choice being no power and to much power. Damn those 3rd gens.

If it comes wrapped in a tidy, stylish, non-overweight, fun to drive package...I would consider a V6 Camaro. Of course, I would also get a Z/28 as well.

BTW, I buy new.

The ONLY reason lower output V8s in thirdgens hurt the image---was because of the models they were put in.

TBI Trans Ams/IROCs and Formulas hurt the image the most. Then the 305 TPI autos were next slowest.

GM should have had the 305 TPI 5 speed and 350 TPI automatic in all Trans Am, Formulas and IROCs/Z28s

If you keep the 6.0 LS2 for example in the Z/28 and then have an RS with 5.3L there is no problem. Then have an LS7 SS or somthing where every model has its own engine.

Ford is doing the same thing with the 300hp GT and the 450hp+ Shelby ones.
The image does not suffer at all this way.

No V6 for me.

But the wife wants an auto vert. The V6 Camaro vert could be the ticket.

If GM gets the image right, they will have no issue selling the V6. The new Mustang V6 sells well don't it?

Re: Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???

if they put in a slightly wilder version of the 3.6 vvt v6, i dont think they will be hurting for power at all, judging by some of the buick lacrosses ive driven. I think the srt4 and 4th gen LT1 (roughly a 14.5 quarter mile time) is reasonable fmark for them to shoot for. of course at the same time they need to shoot for a 350z type of image. GOOD LOOKING OPTIONAL WHEELS ARE A MUST.
