Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
I think this a really important factor for the 5th gen camaro. They need a pretty powerful V6 so that maybe someone thinking about getting a 350z might consider the V6 camaro too. Plus it seems that girls these days are pretty concerned if the car has any power or not. And COOL WHEELS PLEASE!
250+hp 3.9 that would have after market goodies to wake them up. I think this could draw in the RSX-s SRT-4 350z market. (intakes, headers, exhaust, cams etc.)
LS2= Z28 I don't know why some people think the Z28 won't get a LS2. They put it in everything else. Plus 4th gens got LT1's and then the LS1's right after the corvettes.

Re: Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
It depends on how GM does it.
If GM makes a V6 car with balanced handling, a high feature overhead cam engine, and a unique identity with desirable styling, they will sell. If they do what they did last time and made a decontented "I shoulda got a V8" base model, they won't sell.
What they need to do is design a class leading, highly desirable V6 camaro FIRST. Then add the V8.

Assuming gas prices don't go up any further... (I'm paying around 3.50 a gallon after conversion) All I can say is there's no replacement for displacement!
Re: Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
If they can make a V6 5th gen that draws in buyers of the 350Z, then i think it's safe to say it'll be a home run smash hit because that would be one helluva car.
Of course, i question your entire line of thinking if you group the 350Z in with SRT4 neons. I'd venture that noone in the history of man has ever cross shopped a FWD econobox with a turbo with a japanese 2 seat RWD near-luxury halo car. At least noone that could actually afford a 350Z in the first place.

Re: Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
I plan on getting a v6 if the wife will let me, going to be going to chiro college AND starting a family so there won't be a lot of money going around, probably going to replace the Monte with a used small to midsize sedan.

Re: Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
I will buy one if they prove to be tractable in snow...something a V8 4th gen F body is not
Of course, this is assuming my GP is dead and that I already have another Camaro to play with besides my Z (3rd or 5th gen)...so a V6 5th gen is a long way away from my driveway...

No no no no, guys are not suppose to buy them. Only girls are suppose to buy the 5th gen v-6
. But on a serious note, GM needs to make the 5th gen v-6 an appealing car to everyone (guy, girl, performance minded, young, old, ect...) because if you think about most people that will buy the car will be buying a v-6. Look at the Camaro every gen, every year, the v-6 outsold the v-8s by a hefty margin. So GM if your listening, go strong or go home do this car right and make it affordable, classy, and great looking so everyone will want one in their driveway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Will guys buy 5th gen V-6???
You'd be suprised about how many different cars someone in their lower 20's would choose from. My friend recently bought a '04 STI but he was looking at..... New SRT-4, WRX, Mustang.... Used 350z, corvette, '01+ LS1. I'm sure there is more but you get the point.
