Well, I understand that. I should have stated that I was suprised to see the Camaro's target weight actually at 3500lbs, and not higher.

The C6 Vette is the only new model that I know of recently that actually went down in weight with its newest generation.
New 997 911 is also lighter than the previous 996 it is replacing. Many of the higher end cars actually go down in weight with new generations (thanks to exotic lightweight material).

It's not hard keeping weight down on the high-end cars cause they could do with more exotic lightweight materials, and their price supports that....but on a cheap performance car like camaro/mustang/challenger, it's harder. It seems just keeping the weight near the previous gen is challenge enough.

I just hope it comes in at under 3,700lbs. Preferably no more than 3,600lbs. I have a feeling that if it comes in at around 3,650lbs and has a 400hp motor (ls2 or whatever), it won't be any faster than the 4th gen Ls1 cars 1/4 mile wise.
